SL Destinations: Museum Island

Hello & Welcome Exploring Enthusiasts!

Today’s post brings us to the beautiful and elegant Museum Island by Carlolello Zapatero.

 

There are 21 replicas of the world’s richest architectural and historical landmarks of the Mediterranean.

 

These ancient wonders are a collection from across France, Iraq, Egypt, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Jordan, & Babylonia of long ago.

 

Maps and Directories can be found at the entrance and along the paths as you saunter over the bridges & landscapes warmed by carefully placed sunlight.

 

The Textures used on these ancient masterpieces are phenomenal.
The builder took great care in all details, especially with the shadows showing precise depth and realism.

 

Each monument will have a board in front, stating the origin and pertinant information of the RL artifact.

 

We recommend the 2 automated tours set out.
1 is a walking tour for you and a companion. It will walk you thru the entire Isle not missing one square inch.
It’s really fun to do and if you are like me and Revan, You will try to do it a few more times LOL

 

The second is a boat tour that can hold up to 4 avatars. (We had a friendly avatar join us lol~ Hello Morgan Darkrose!)
This tour will encircle and weave around and through the island to get another perspective of all its beauty.

SL Destinations: The Sands of Time

We bring you a post on the mysterious and beautiful sim “The Sands of Time.”

This Beautifully landscaped sim is Home to Majilis Al Jinn.

 

The name of the sim can be translated as: The Congress (or the seat, the meeting place) of Spirits.
The Jinn are mythical beings of great power that exist somewhere between heaven and earth.

 

In western culture they are often thought of as Djinn/Jinni/ Genie, and are often the granters of wishes when found and released. In middle eastern culture, the Jinn are mentioned in the Quran as beings created by Allah, where men were created from clay, the Jinn were created from fire, and just like men, have free will, and the ability to choose to be good or not. The subject of Jinn in Muslim culture is today at least, often taboo, as they are often blamed for causing mischief on earth.

 

Majailis Al Jinn is an island reflecting the enchantment and the wonder from tales like 1001 nights, or even modern stories such as ‘Prince of Persia’. Here Western and Far East cultural influences can be found blended in.

Exploring this island, You will see The recess in the island’s center is sheltering a garden of wonders.

 

There are caves of Mystery under the palace, hidden alcoves to sit and cuddle, and even a sunken ancient temple.

 

When you visit this fabulous sim, Time is of no importance here, Stop and take time to enjoy this haven set on a vast ocean where Mystery & beauty is allowed to flourish.

Holidays & Intermission

Hello Sweet Souls,
This weekend, Hubby & I were on holiday from our RL jobs, which gave us plenty of quality time together.
We took full advantage of it and stayed on our own sim and played, talked and landscaped.
Bombshie Clothing sent a cute swimsuit out to the bloggers, and it fit right in with the beach Hubby made.
Nothing shiny this post, Just Us… kinda on Intermission.

SL Destinations: Picklefish Islands

Hello Explorers,

Revan Here :-), Glad you can join us for another Adventure!

The Focus today is on The Pickle Islands,… Full of Mystery and Intrigue.

There are 4 in number and named Picklesong, Picklemoon, Picklefish and Pickleflower.
These are all tied into a flowing theme of Fantasy, Nature, Horror and Fairytale.

There are many unusual places to see Here. Some Perplexing, Some are Whimsical.

 

On any of the 4, You can discover Underground Caverns, Haunted Mansions, Gothic Castles, and Enchanted Forests.

Following the trail on the Picklesong Island, The Wife and I came upon a ruined theatre full of ghouls sitting in the audience.

We had a bit of fun dancing burlesque for them and having a laugh.

I’d like to point out-Beware, Picklesong has some savory characters there, slightly Adult themed and sinister, But The other Islands are Mild Fable like & Mythical.

It would take a full week to find all the secrets these sims hold.
So be sure to wear your best exploring gear and pack provisions for the duration lol.

SL Destinations: Historic Replicas by ASU

Welcome All!
Revan here :), The Wife and I were feeling a bit Rockabilly Retro today, So I searched for a sim to fit our mood.
I came across a true Gem., The Arkansas State University had 2 sims that fit our theme perfectly.

What a VAST destination! We got more than we expected. There are actually 6 sims Total owned by ASU., 2 campus, including an
orientaion area with Art Gallery, 3 historic recreations by Painter Meriman and 1 set aside as a Leisure sim with Beach.

The Regions have MANY points of interest, Too numerous to cover all in one post,

But We will highlight the spots we found enjoyable.

Here you will find unusual Art Exhibits and Interactive galleries.
Be sure to Transport to each area in the Art Building via the large banner flags in front.
We had a great time on the turtle ride touring a giant Aquarium!

of John L. Handcox.

John L. Handcox (1904-1992); was a Great Depression-era tenant farmer and union advocate from Arkansas renowned for his
politically charged songs and poetry.

This place is AMAZING!, They have even replicated Ernest Hemingway’s Studio.

During the 1930s A barn was converted into a studio to give Hemingway privacy for writing.
Portions of one of his most famous novels, A Farewell to Arms, and several short stories were written in this studio.

Moving along, We came across Country Music Singer Johnny Cash’s boyhood home in Dyess Circle.

This is a recreation of The Cash family home in Dyess Arkansas as it was during the 1940s.

Check out the the rest of this town. There’s a Pop-shop, Cinema, & other colony display homes here, It’s like a step back
in time.

Something I found interesting was that The University actually owns Mr.Cash’s childhood home & The Dyess Circle Community;

 Exploring a bit more we come across a piece of Antique Southern Beauty.

A scale model of The Lakeport Plantation House in Lake Village, Arkansas.

This palatial estate is One of Arkansas’ premiere historic structures.
Lakeport is the only remaining Arkansas plantation home set on the Mississippi River.
It was built in 1859 for Lycurgus and Lydia Taylor Johnson, Who were part of a political dynasty that extended from
Virginia to Kentucky to Arkansas.

Jump on the Horse & Carriage awaiting you for a tour around the estate with cotton fields.

Opposite of The Lakeport Mansion are tour boats and rafts.
The Raft will take you to the tragic sunken town of Napoleon.

Just stand up when destination reaches its point and walk off the pier to find this RL Historic replica underwater.
There are plenty of signs around to tell you the story of what happened and when.

If You take the row Boat, You will then tour a serene swamp, great for photos.

There is also a wooden shack complete with rocking chairs on the porch to hang out.

SL Destinations: The Soho NY & Hooktip Regions

Hello & Welcome!

If you are an Avid Explorer and Art Lover such as We, Then this post is perfect for you!
Today we highlight a destination full of exploratory options on the SL Continent of Heterocera Atoll.

One particular sim called Hooktip, is a bustling hub for travel and a great starting point for your excursions.

From this region you can travel via Jeep, Balloon, Train, Or Horse.
If that isn’t enough options for you, Join the Soho Land group & rez your own means of transportation.

BUT, Before heading out, We do recommend venturing into the bordering city of Bembecia.

Bembecia is The home to The Art Institute of Pittsburgh’s Student Gallery, & where you’ll find amazing artistic and cultural
attractions, All set in a replica of Soho NY’s historic iron front district.

Visit The numerous galleries and relax in the rooftop gardens or sushi bars.
So much to see & So much to do!, Be sure to share this experience with your favorites.

SL Destinations: Isle of Myrth

Today’s Excursion brings us to Isle of Myrth aka “The Noble Story Book”.

 

It is truly a wonderful place to while away the hours.

 

Combining enchanted woodland walks, windmills and bridges, all fronted by a beautiful beach and promenade.

 

A tree house cafe is set behind the beach, and is a great spot to socialize with friends.

 

There are other settings to relax in., From floating Umbrellas, Picnic tables, even a Gypsy caravan. lol

 

Rezzing is allowed on this sim, so that you may rez a boat to float along rivers and lakes, Or ride a scooter or bike on the trails.

SL Destinations: Avidya

Welcome Explorers,
This post brings you another spot worthy of a visit named Avidya.
There are not many interactive areas here but We both agree, It is very pretty to look at and perfect for avid photographers.

At the starting point, There is a Cafe set in a Manor, with an old english style garden thick with bright flowers, and
swaying trees. Inside this cafe is traditional Japanese style dining, & A sushi bar with crackling fireplace & humble decor.

There is a Welcome sign announcing club hours are being   held every Tuesday and Thursday.

Outside of the Manor’s cafe is a covered bridge and walkways that lead to other scenic areas on the sim.

One area is vivid and lovely as hundreds of colorful butterflies flutter at the entrance of a cave.
This cave contains a Harp, A fantasy garden of Giant mushrooms, Beds of Flowers and even more butterflies.

 

The walk continues along to a cobble stone street with Old style store fronts & brownstone stoops.
Set on the street are cafe style chairs and table. Great for pictures, perfect for a sit and hang out.

 

Across the waterway you will see a tall castle. That is the Cinderella Social Dance Bar.

Inside this castle is a majestic ballroom, with Itans and sitting areas for social gatherings.
They are also offering at this time a Snazzy Mesh Suit Free for the Fellas, Stop by and pick up one.

Welcome Aboard!
Here’s an informative post to some great photogenic and interactive places in second life.
what better way to start the 1st day of summer than in a balloon trip touring beautiful and scenic destinations.

We will spotlight 2 sims for you… Read on to see how wonderful these were made!

 Our first excursion brought us to Lula, Where there is a small parade of popular shops that look more like a quaint European town nestled in rolling hills.

The Stationary Balloons here provide a very nice aerial view of the sim.

Sitting at a table in the town square did not feel like a sim just for shopping but more like you have transported into a
Beautiful old village in southern france.

When You visit this picturesque sim do wander the grounds, You will find many pose balls for couples and nooks for spending
time with your favorite people.

Having caught the bug for ballooning our next port of call was The Island of Shalott, Where you may take a tour of the sim
in a steampunk style balloon or use any of the other routes of transportation such as Horse & Cart, Boat, or Train.

Although the sim is based on Norse legend, There are steampunk elements thruout and even wheeled elephants to ride through
The beautiful garden, lol

Please be sure to click and receive the notecard from Janetland Laboratories explaining more about the sims past from 2007,
to its present and future projects. It is a very relaxed educational place as well as entertaining.

They even provide a cafe in the air, You may access the TP via the Oval Museum just off the RR tracks.

If you are looking for a new place to feed your eyes and relax your mind,
Then Todays post is right on time for you.

We bring to you Petit Pas. This destination is very sweet, quaint, & interesting.
The feeling you get is it is very friendly here.

When you land, You will see an cute interactive merry go round in the center, surrounded by park benches, trees with shade, and some props with animations free to use.
Hubby and I had fun on the ride LOL

There are open gates & you will see a descending path of green inviting you to explore further.

As you walk down the tree lined walkway , You’re greeted by fields of colored flowers and ancient trees.

Country style houses are in this area, with furniture for you and yours to spend time in.

Such beauty!, It was like walking into a forgotten garden, equally adorable as the town you first dropped into.
