SL Destinations: Museum Island

Hello & Welcome Exploring Enthusiasts!

Today’s post brings us to the beautiful and elegant Museum Island by Carlolello Zapatero.

 

There are 21 replicas of the world’s richest architectural and historical landmarks of the Mediterranean.

 

These ancient wonders are a collection from across France, Iraq, Egypt, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Jordan, & Babylonia of long ago.

 

Maps and Directories can be found at the entrance and along the paths as you saunter over the bridges & landscapes warmed by carefully placed sunlight.

 

The Textures used on these ancient masterpieces are phenomenal.
The builder took great care in all details, especially with the shadows showing precise depth and realism.

 

Each monument will have a board in front, stating the origin and pertinant information of the RL artifact.

 

We recommend the 2 automated tours set out.
1 is a walking tour for you and a companion. It will walk you thru the entire Isle not missing one square inch.
It’s really fun to do and if you are like me and Revan, You will try to do it a few more times LOL

 

The second is a boat tour that can hold up to 4 avatars. (We had a friendly avatar join us lol~ Hello Morgan Darkrose!)
This tour will encircle and weave around and through the island to get another perspective of all its beauty.

SL Destinations: The Sands of Time

Hello Travelers,

We bring you a post on the mysterious and beautiful sim “The Sands of Time.”

This Beautifully landscaped sim is Home to Majilis Al Jinn.

 

The name of the sim can be translated as: The Congress (or the seat, the meeting place) of Spirits.
The Jinn are mythical beings of great power that exist somewhere between heaven and earth.

 

In western culture they are often thought of as Djinn/Jinni/ Genie, and are often the granters of wishes when found and released. In middle eastern culture, the Jinn are mentioned in the Quran as beings created by Allah, where men were created from clay, the Jinn were created from fire, and just like men, have free will, and the ability to choose to be good or not. The subject of Jinn in Muslim culture is today at least, often taboo, as they are often blamed for causing mischief on earth.

 

Majailis Al Jinn is an island reflecting the enchantment and the wonder from tales like 1001 nights, or even modern stories such as ‘Prince of Persia’. Here Western and Far East cultural influences can be found blended in.

Exploring this island, You will see The recess in the island’s center is sheltering a garden of wonders.

 

There are caves of Mystery under the palace, hidden alcoves to sit and cuddle, and even a sunken ancient temple.

 

When you visit this fabulous sim, Time is of no importance here, Stop and take time to enjoy this haven set on a vast ocean where Mystery & beauty is allowed to flourish.

Hello Fun Seekers!,

We are Sending you the LM to a fun sim, actually Highlighting a store this time.

This store caught my attention with a few words: “Ever destroyed a bunch of houses with a tornado?
Ever ridden a spider that can climb any object? Ever flown a Heli-Chair? No? Come on over!”
…And, So over we went lol

Revan and I were on this sim for hours, Conjuring Tornados, Destroying houses

and then riding in one LOLOL

 

After a bit of ‘spun til dizzy’ action, We jumped on the Helichairs and raced around the sim on warp speed LOL.

 

The Jumping Spiders were absolute laughs, as they climb upside down, make SUPER far Jumps, spit webs, race up mountains and cling sideways on any surface.

It was a nice surprise to meet Warp Bubble. He is the creator of these smart items, and Invites you all to visit and play!

Come in a large group to play-hold a relay race even lol,

SL Destinations: Historic Replicas by ASU

Welcome All!
Revan here :), The Wife and I were feeling a bit Rockabilly Retro today, So I searched for a sim to fit our mood.
I came across a true Gem., The Arkansas State University had 2 sims that fit our theme perfectly.

What a VAST destination! We got more than we expected. There are actually 6 sims Total owned by ASU., 2 campus, including an
orientaion area with Art Gallery, 3 historic recreations by Painter Meriman and 1 set aside as a Leisure sim with Beach.

The Regions have MANY points of interest, Too numerous to cover all in one post,

But We will highlight the spots we found enjoyable.

Here you will find unusual Art Exhibits and Interactive galleries.
Be sure to Transport to each area in the Art Building via the large banner flags in front.
We had a great time on the turtle ride touring a giant Aquarium!

 

Fascinating Historic Information with RL Pics can be seen at The Southern Tenant Farmer’s Museum which highlights the work
of John L. Handcox.

John L. Handcox (1904-1992); was a Great Depression-era tenant farmer and union advocate from Arkansas renowned for his
politically charged songs and poetry.

This place is AMAZING!, They have even replicated Ernest Hemingway’s Studio.

During the 1930s A barn was converted into a studio to give Hemingway privacy for writing.
Portions of one of his most famous novels, A Farewell to Arms, and several short stories were written in this studio.

Moving along, We came across Country Music Singer Johnny Cash’s boyhood home in Dyess Circle.

This is a recreation of The Cash family home in Dyess Arkansas as it was during the 1940s.

Check out the the rest of this town. There’s a Pop-shop, Cinema, & other colony display homes here, It’s like a step back
in time.

Something I found interesting was that The University actually owns Mr.Cash’s childhood home & The Dyess Circle Community;

 Exploring a bit more we come across a piece of Antique Southern Beauty.

A scale model of The Lakeport Plantation House in Lake Village, Arkansas.

This palatial estate is One of Arkansas’ premiere historic structures.
Lakeport is the only remaining Arkansas plantation home set on the Mississippi River.
It was built in 1859 for Lycurgus and Lydia Taylor Johnson, Who were part of a political dynasty that extended from
Virginia to Kentucky to Arkansas.

Jump on the Horse & Carriage awaiting you for a tour around the estate with cotton fields.

Opposite of The Lakeport Mansion are tour boats and rafts.
The Raft will take you to the tragic sunken town of Napoleon.

Just stand up when destination reaches its point and walk off the pier to find this RL Historic replica underwater.
There are plenty of signs around to tell you the story of what happened and when.

If You take the row Boat, You will then tour a serene swamp, great for photos.

There is also a wooden shack complete with rocking chairs on the porch to hang out.
