SL Destinations: Museum Island

Hello & Welcome Exploring Enthusiasts!

Today’s post brings us to the beautiful and elegant Museum Island by Carlolello Zapatero.

 

There are 21 replicas of the world’s richest architectural and historical landmarks of the Mediterranean.

 

These ancient wonders are a collection from across France, Iraq, Egypt, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Jordan, & Babylonia of long ago.

 

Maps and Directories can be found at the entrance and along the paths as you saunter over the bridges & landscapes warmed by carefully placed sunlight.

 

The Textures used on these ancient masterpieces are phenomenal.
The builder took great care in all details, especially with the shadows showing precise depth and realism.

 

Each monument will have a board in front, stating the origin and pertinant information of the RL artifact.

 

We recommend the 2 automated tours set out.
1 is a walking tour for you and a companion. It will walk you thru the entire Isle not missing one square inch.
It’s really fun to do and if you are like me and Revan, You will try to do it a few more times LOL

 

The second is a boat tour that can hold up to 4 avatars. (We had a friendly avatar join us lol~ Hello Morgan Darkrose!)
This tour will encircle and weave around and through the island to get another perspective of all its beauty.

SL Destinations: The Pharaoh’s Tomb

Greetings Explorers,
Today’s post is one of high adventure. Are you ready?!

We travel to the Great Pyramid of Giza, the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World in search of The Pharaohs Tomb!

 

Only those with courage and resolve will make it through the maze of tunnels and chambers laden with Treasures and Traps.

 

We began our adventure in the temple below the pyramid where a stone slab slid away on our approach revealing a hidden entrance!

 

A vast room full of venomous snakes, led to a dark tunnel where long dead mummies woke from their slumber…
uh, uh…..RUN!!

 

Spiders, Crocodiles, Fire Pits, Rope Slides and Moving Bridges…

Who said this would be easy?

 

If you make it to the Pharaoh’s Tomb Room in one piece make sure You take the time to marvel at the opulent décor and grand statues.

 

Having completed your quest, why not spend some time relaxing in the Palace or taking in the sights by boat, balloon or flying carpet.

We are at our final Mission for the Mainland Mayhem Tour, 3 of 3.

Coordinates have us starting at Mt. G’al in the Mahulu region, where a hot volcanic tour is set up for you.

The tour balloon will take you up and around the perimeter of the sim, revealing hang out areas to relax in.

 

There are very Beautiful spots with water sounds, caves, and shimmering flowers.

Mythical creatures that enjoy your company and nature here.

This is one of 4 homesteads that create Ice Bay, which is situated in the Snowland region of the Sansara continent.

Venture out across the vast stark ice flats or rez a boat and maneuver between icebergs,

or rez a sub and explore underwater with the lava rift below the ice caps.

This pristine cold haven is choked full of scenery,

Climb a bit higher up the mountain where you will find communities and the main road.

Here on the main road, There is a car pick up/tour hub.

Choose your vehicle, sit and ease into a slower paced multi sim ride.
Linden Tour Pods pass frequently as well, They move a bit faster and change from land to sea to rail to fit their tour

SL Destinations: Mainland Mayhem Part 2 of 3

Fall In Travel Troopers,
Its time for Part 2 of 3 Mainland Mayhem!

Today we continue with our operational maneuvers thru the mainland.
Our strategic goal is to pin point and locate interesting sims for your delight and eradicate our enemy- boredom!

Marching forward & Boots down we enter Kissling, a sim fortified with older shops running since 2003.

Feel Free To Browse, & Save a Linden or 2. There are very unique items here. (I’ve even found a Raggedy Ann Doll!)

Kissling is a quirky town with hyper cars, trucks and taxis that WHIZZ around corners and up and down each street very quickly.

While you wait by the cake shop you will notice a trolley or tour bus beckoning for you to board it.
Go ahead hop on! It moves very quickly, so hang on to your Cyrup (wig), As It travels across sim borders onto several towns.

When the trolley paused in The region of Boardman, We decided to take a look around & investigate.

This is A small suburban community set in a nice, quiet region without stores and looming towers.
They have an Open Air Market, A Town Hall run by Jack Linden, A Quaint Church, which has small town USA’s charm and appeal.

Wander the Boardman sim. You can rez in designated areas, set out vehicles to drive, or boats to navigate the long meandering river into other sims.

Our next tour of duty brings us to Frog Rd. The LM provided is the starting point.

Here you may rez your own vehicle, or board the idle city bus.

This Bus can hold up to as many friends that you bring with you, and will carry you all on a very long scenic route past unusual builds, stretched bridges, streams & mountains.

The Mainland holds some of SL’s oddest & oldest communities,

Rizal is a play centre with many attractions.

Set like a lake front amusement Park, You will be entertained by food stands that give out food.
An Interactive Playground, Hedge Maze, Bumper Boats and our favorite the giant Piano keys.

This was big time fun as we played out notes while dancing on the keys lol.

SL Destinations: Historic Replicas by ASU

Welcome All!
Revan here :), The Wife and I were feeling a bit Rockabilly Retro today, So I searched for a sim to fit our mood.
I came across a true Gem., The Arkansas State University had 2 sims that fit our theme perfectly.

What a VAST destination! We got more than we expected. There are actually 6 sims Total owned by ASU., 2 campus, including an
orientaion area with Art Gallery, 3 historic recreations by Painter Meriman and 1 set aside as a Leisure sim with Beach.

The Regions have MANY points of interest, Too numerous to cover all in one post,

But We will highlight the spots we found enjoyable.

Here you will find unusual Art Exhibits and Interactive galleries.
Be sure to Transport to each area in the Art Building via the large banner flags in front.
We had a great time on the turtle ride touring a giant Aquarium!

John L. Handcox (1904-1992); was a Great Depression-era tenant farmer and union advocate from Arkansas renowned for his
politically charged songs and poetry.

This place is AMAZING!, They have even replicated Ernest Hemingway’s Studio.

During the 1930s A barn was converted into a studio to give Hemingway privacy for writing.
Portions of one of his most famous novels, A Farewell to Arms, and several short stories were written in this studio.

Moving along, We came across Country Music Singer Johnny Cash’s boyhood home in Dyess Circle.

This is a recreation of The Cash family home in Dyess Arkansas as it was during the 1940s.

Check out the the rest of this town. There’s a Pop-shop, Cinema, & other colony display homes here, It’s like a step back
in time.

Something I found interesting was that The University actually owns Mr.Cash’s childhood home & The Dyess Circle Community;

 Exploring a bit more we come across a piece of Antique Southern Beauty.

A scale model of The Lakeport Plantation House in Lake Village, Arkansas.

This palatial estate is One of Arkansas’ premiere historic structures.
Lakeport is the only remaining Arkansas plantation home set on the Mississippi River.
It was built in 1859 for Lycurgus and Lydia Taylor Johnson, Who were part of a political dynasty that extended from
Virginia to Kentucky to Arkansas.

Jump on the Horse & Carriage awaiting you for a tour around the estate with cotton fields.

Opposite of The Lakeport Mansion are tour boats and rafts.
The Raft will take you to the tragic sunken town of Napoleon.

Just stand up when destination reaches its point and walk off the pier to find this RL Historic replica underwater.
There are plenty of signs around to tell you the story of what happened and when.

If You take the row Boat, You will then tour a serene swamp, great for photos.

There is also a wooden shack complete with rocking chairs on the porch to hang out.

IAOS Group Week4- Columbus Day

Hello Friend,

I’m blogging another GREAT sim to check out called Phaze Demesnes. It’s the home of the creator Ferd. The sim is full of GOOD USEFUL freebies in every corner of the land.

I originally came to this sim  in 2009 to pick up a free translator. Even then it was nice, with lots of interactive things to do, I especially remember the TaiChi floor and free garden items to decorate with. Well, while helping a new friend pick up a translator, I see I have returned to a big revamp of the sim.

Phaze Demesnes is now home to Dragons, Fairies, Unicorns, Mermaids, Elves & Gnomes, Beautiful flowers throughout, A Fae swing, Pose balls for couples in romantic areas, placed under trees and near waterfalls.

They want you to see it all, even the underwater store, So they have set up rides…A Swan ride, A Flying Egret Bird & Dragon, all take you on a complete tour of the sim, and the plus of these rides are that they can hold 2. That’s right, Two of you can ride the Birds, Boats, and Dragons together. 🙂

Oh I forgot to mention The castle seen in my pics, is also set up with poseballs already in place for a wedding in the chapel area, ready to service either impromptu or planned nuptials 😉 How sweet of the creator to add that in!
